Yaaaaawn...it's this weather giving me a case of the afternoon zombies.

The weekend didn't go quite as planned, particularly in the lack of sailing booo. But otherwise it was fun. I got to watch my nephews race through an obstacle course in my parents' back yard. I got to cook a fantabulous meal with my sister to celebrate Mom's birthday. And I seem to have discovered about the perfect way to spend a Monday. My friends had their engagement party, where we lounged about their back yard, laughing, talking, drinking luscious wine and eating fantastic food. How much better does that get, really?

Because it seems I can't get through a week without some discussion of food, I must share...Her mom made rum-soaked pineapple. Just thinking about it makes me lose all ability to express myself clearly. Da-ha-yeah-um it was amazing. For each pineapple, mix 1/4 cup dark rum and 1/4 cup brown sugar with a little cinnamon. She seemed to suggest that she didn't really let it marinate in the mix first, but I think I will certainly do that. :) Then she grilled it, basting it with butter. Holy cannoli. We have a winner. Particularly spectacular with the white wines.

Also a hearty wahoo for Valley of the Moon Syrah. Positively luscious, fruity, full flavor. Perfect.

Time to get off to the studio. Think I'll need some hot tea or something to keep my voice in shape for this session.
