Screeeeeeeeeech

I burned myself so badly that I actually screeched. I thought it was a shriek or a scream, but I checked Merriam Webster and it seems that screech really is the most appropriate description of the thoroughly unfamiliar noise that came from my throat. Partway through, it almost sounded like I was singing in a high falsetto.
I am definitely NOT a screecher. Sometimes reactions can surprise you.
