Unexpected weekend and literary sadism

2007-01-08 - 11:53 a.m.

Well, the weekend wasn't quite what we thought it was going to be, but it was good anyway.

My cousin was supposed to come up to visit this weekend. But the poor thing wound up in a car accident before she could drive up. Luckily she's ok, but her car's not so lucky. It's a mess and she's a college student who really needs wheels.

Saturday Meekay had planned to fly us out to Lancaster for lunch, but the winds were not cooperative. Instead, we headed to New Hope, a cute artsy/touristy town. It was my first time up there, and made for a nice afternoon wandering around in the unseasonably warm sunshine. Lunch at Mother's Bar and Restaurant with a swanky cocktail apiece, window shopping and wandering galore. Picked up a red satin and black lace corset for clubbing and such. Not a heavy-duty steel-boned sort, but a somewhat more comfortable version.

After a Target run (in which Meekay finally found a PS3 and I got household goods like toilet paper...there's life for ya), we had a nice sushi dinner and went out to Ulana's to break in the corset in style.

Sunday we discovered there's a Mugshots in Manayunk, so we headed there for a nice little bite in the morning. Meekay flew us out to Lancaster for a late lunch. I took the controls for a few minutes...it's definitely way more sensitive than steering the boat. We also got to check out a plane he's considering getting a share of. Ran into one of the owners at the airfield and we chatted and took a good peek.

Last night was a lazy night, munching on some party leftovers and watching the original Shaft. Now my head keeps rolling through Isaac Hayes numbers and includes backup singers.

Am in the middle of a 7 poems in 7 days challenge and have written exactly...NONE. Crap. Hopefully tonight I can play a little catchup. This time the twist was that another player writes the 7 titles for you and you have to write the poems to go with their titles. Have I mentioned how much I love (and hate) the talented Mr. usb-port? :b Now, we've done the literary masochism thing before (hello, googlers!), but this is only the second time we've entered into the territory of literary sadism (the first being the dreaded sestina challenge of years gone by).

Pretend it's 10th grade. Leave me a note.
