Hi...it's me.

Wow! Hey, how've you been? You in town?

Yeah, just got in...all-night flight [undecipherable muttering, trailing off]

Mmm. You must be wiped. How's the tour going?

Oh, really good. Playing some new stuff, you know. Tired but good.

So how long you in for?

Ummm [papers shuffling, something heavy falling to the floor] til...Tuesday actually. Have a shoot and some promo stuff, looks like.

Oh that's great. Wow, got you for a weekend! How novel!

[he offers one note of a laugh in response and I know he's grinning with his eyes and lips closed]

Heh. Well, a show may be the last thing you want to do, but the boys are in town too...do you want to go see 'em Friday night?

Yeah, that sounds good. Nice to be on the other side sometimes. You got tickets?

I can get 'em. Just us or anybody else coming along?

Uhm.

[the pause goes on for far too long. No papers shuffle. No thuds. Definitely no smiles. He's struggling here.]

Could you get one more?

Sure...no problem. [sound casual now] Your wife come down?

mmm. No...not exactly...
