it's not all in the words

2002-09-17 - 4:10 p.m.

I finish off a "hi. how are ya, i'm fine. busy" sort of note.

Then I open an e-mail that really makes me think. It only has a few lines, but those lines are so internal that I understand exactly where his head is.

Replying to that uses an entirely separate space in my body for composition. I write phrases I didn't realize were true of my state-of-mind until I read them back. It becomes almost a prose-poem.

I need more of those e-mails.
