writing again

Wonder of wonders: last night I actually wrote. For myself. Not for work, not for school, not for diaryland. It has been a ridiculously long time since I did that regularly.

It only ended up being one page (so far), but it was one page of dialogue. I know that's one of the areas I need the most work in, so I'm glad it's working.

I even pulled the guitar out again yesterday and played til my fingers were suitably cramped and my fingertips were tender as they ought to be.

I think I'm prepared for the exam today. I realized yesterday that there is an essay section in addition to the standard multiple-choice exam, but oddly the essay section won't be graded. You have to do it, but it just goes in your file. I know it doesn't make much sense, particularly since it's a technical writing exam, but I'm past the point of trying to find sense-making in our system of higher education.
